"In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks." - John Muir
At OISCA, we firmly believe in respecting and nurturing Mother Nature, instilling these values in every child who walks through our doors. Each activity undertaken by our students is intricately linked to our chosen family of the week, fostering a sense of unity and responsibility towards our environment.
Recently, our young learners delved into the fascinating journey of a mango sapling's life cycle. From relishing the fruit to understanding the intricacies of its seed, every step was a lesson in reverence for nature. They observed the husk, meticulously cut it open, washed and soaked the seed, and then learned the careful method of planting it horizontally.
But the learning didn't stop there. Our students also explored the process of transpiration, covering the saplings with plastic bags to recycle water efficiently without constant watering. This hands-on experience not only deepened their understanding but also sparked a sense of wonder and responsibility.
Taking the next step, the saplings were transferred to our school garden, where our children visit them weekly to monitor their growth. Through this process, they not only expand their knowledge of science and biology but also delve into mathematics as they learn about measurements.
The impact of this activity has been profound. Inspired by their experiences, our young learners now eagerly seek out seeds, whether at school or at home, eager to continue their journey of nurturing nature.
At OISCA, we believe that by fostering a love for nature in our students, we are shaping compassionate and responsible stewards of the environment for generations to come.
